Fishing Report Update - April 22

Fishing Report Update - April 22

Well you can usually set your watch to the the fact that by the 3rd week of April the Salmon & Trout fishing along the south shore of Lake Ontario begins to hit the peak for some of the most exciting fishing action of the year & we are here!

Despite a little wet & windy windy weather over the past weekend, some excellent fishing was had by many boats. Jordan, Dalhousie, Port Weller & out front of the Niagara River. Fish can be found anywhere from 15 to 50 FOW.

A mix of spoons & stick baits are working. Riggers, small diver & 2, 3, & 5 color lead core.

Shore anglers, there is still good action to be had by casting spoons, get out after 'em while you can!

Attached is a a couple pictures of some recent hot baits.

Good luck to everyone competing in the King Of The Lake Salmon Tournament, held out of St Catharines Marina this weekend.

Those recently venturing over to the NY shores of Lake Erie are starting to get into some nice Smallmouth Bass. That action will also be getting better as things warm up further.

Great perch fishing is still happening out of Crystal Beach, Port Colborne, Long Point Bay and Lake Simcoe.

Excellent catfish happening in Jordan Harbour, the Grand River & the Welland River. Get out & have fun they are a blast.

Ahead later this week Turkey season opens & on Saturday Trout season opens up in most of the province (check the regulationss to be sure!)

Walleye season is also just around the corner!
