FISHING REPORT UPDATE - MARCH 23
Fishing Report Update - March 23
Alright let's catch up on things
There has been a few decent days over the last week or so, where anglers have been able to get out on Lake Ontario to do some trolling.
There's been good numbers of Brown Trout being caught as well as some Atlantic Salmon in the shallows. We're talking 8-20 FOW. As usual, a mix of small stick baits & spoons are working.
(Be mindful, this time of year is when many Atlantic Salmon are caught, they look similar to Browns & they need to be 63CM to keep & you're allowed 1 per day with a Sportfishing license)
If you don't like trolling shallow but want some action you can get out to 40-60 FOW & get Lake Trout by trolling a mix of standard size spoons.
This will be what's happening for the next couple weeks as the water warms up. Won't be surprised to see the odd Coho or even a random Chinook caught too, as it does happen often.
Boat launches at Forans, Jordan & Port Dalhousie are open now.
For shore anglers now is the time to be casting spoons to get those Browns while they are in shallow.
The Niagara River & Port Dalhousie both still has good Brown Trout & Steelhead action happening too.
Some of the other creeks & rivers will have Steelhead running soon too, if not already. As always be mindful of the seasonal boundaries for each waterway, and don't litter or trespass.
