FISHING REPORT UPDATE - JULY 22
Well what can se say, we're in the middle of summer, and the fishing & weather is pretty good! Lake Ontario has seen a bunch of 30lb+ Salmon entered in the Great Ontario Salmon Derby Shane Samms is now the current over all leader with 35.10 lbs! Good fishing is being had all over the lake currently. The trend seems to be to fish a little deeper lately, like 120-180 FOW. Of course this changes often. Spoons, flashers flies & herring are all working well. Over on Lake Erie, we really are experiencing something special out there...
Jul 5 - Fishing Report Update
Lake Erie Walleye is just simply great right now across the lake at every port. There are schools of Walleye from the mouth of the Niagara River to Long Point & of course further west. It can vary a little but 30-40 FOW seems to be very consistent. There are fish coming from deeper water too. Presentations can vary too. We suggest using what you are most comfortable with. Crankbaits, spoons & worm harnesses all are performing well. Choose your colors based on the day. (Ex. Generally bright patterns on bright days, dark colors when there's less sunlight) Lake Ontario...
FISHING REPORT UPDATE - MAY 27
Lets do a little fishing report update for Lake Ontario (as of May 27 2025) Yes the last few weeks have been disappointing & frustrating for us all. We had a pretty good April and things were progressing well. Then came lots of wind from the East / North East which wiped out everything It cooled the water down & dispersed things to say the least. As well the weather did not allow for many of actually get on the water very much either! Lately catches have been made up primarily of Lake Trout & Coho Salmon. But we are finally...
Spring Lake Trout Fishing
Ok so we have had a few folks also asking about how to go about targeting spring Lake Trout if they don't prefer fishing shallow to target Brown trout. So the Lake trout spawn in Oct/Nov & then they drop back out to the lake shortly after to feed. While some will roam the shallows, it seems like they prefer 30-60 FOW generally. These fish are hungry & receive nearly no angling pressure except for those fishing around the Niagara Bar. So they generally are not fussy for lure preference in the early spring. Most standard & magnum spoons will...
Early Spring Brown Trout
With the nice weather & spring just around the corner we are getting lots of questions lately regarding early season Brown Trout fishing. We'll try to keep this brief & informative. Browns in general after fall spawning will spend nearly all winter in close to shore, as well they will come & go from local harbours, marinas , creeks and rivers looking for food. They don't winter way deep offshore like Chinook and some other species. So whenever the weather safely allows for you to get out, the browns are there! A couple things though. As the water temp warms...
