Well you can usually set your watch to the the fact that by the 3rd week of April the Salmon & Trout fishing along the south shore of Lake Ontario begins to hit the peak for some of the most exciting fishing action of the year & we are here!   Despite a little wet & windy windy weather over the past weekend, some excellent fishing was had by many boats. Ok lets talk about what's been happening lately. Inconsistent weather of late, a couple nice days, followed by a couple un-fishable days & so on it seems. Fishing along the south shore of Lake Ontario from Grimsby to the Niagara River has been good & will only be getting better in the coming days & weeks.   Fishing Report Update - Mon April 7Now that the Spring weather is back so is the amazing fishing action in many locations for different species. We are definitely getting into Spring Peak time for many species. Starting with Lake Ontario things are heating up.We are into that time now where many species are crowding the shallower waters together. Weekend recap fishing report Well we have had a decent little window weather lately and things are getting good. Lake Ontario fishing continues to be pretty good currently. The water is 39-40 degrees along most of the Niagara shoreline. Brown Trout fishing the last while has been very good when of course you find the right colored water. A mix of spoons & stick baits are getting it done.   A 1 color lead core with spoons has been a very good set up for many anglers. With the recent burst of spring weather there has been some very good fishing of late. On Lake Ontario the excellent Brown Trout fishing continues for both shore & boat anglers. Some good numbers of Lake trout being reported as well. And we have even seen a few Chinook Salmon being caught as well ! Elsewhere the Catfish action is picking up on the Grand River. Really good perch fishing is being had on Simcoe & Erie. Crappie are being caught, and suckers are running the creeks too! Looking like a little dip in the weather this week coming up...
