APRIL 16 - FISHING REPORT UPDATE
Ok lets talk about what's been happening lately.
Inconsistent weather of late, a couple nice days, followed by a couple un-fishable days & so on it seems.
Fishing along the south shore of Lake Ontario from Grimsby to the Niagara River has been good & will only be getting better in the coming days & weeks. Anglers are getting mixed bags of Chinook, Coho, Brown Trout & Lake Trout. Fish are being caught in 15-50 FOW for the most part. Keep in mind this can change by the day as the wind moves the colored water around. Some areas have had large stretches of mud water of late. Looks like a strong East wind will be coming Wednesday, that will change things, probably for the better for the days coming ahead.
Hot bright colors seem to be producing the best, for both spoons & stick baits. Orange, green, & chartreuse patterns.
Brown Trout are still in shallow from shore to 20 FOW. Kings & Coho 15-40 FOW and the Lake Trout seem to be just all over the place!
Good perch fishing continues on Lake Erie & Simcoe.
The Walleye fishing on the Detroit River is still very good.
If your looking for some fun with the kids & family, why not try for Catfish ! Lots of good spots all round here. Jordan Harbour, Welland River & the Grand River are all good spots to try.
Reminder that the Strait Line Anglers Club has the Ken Fisher Memorial Spring Fling Tournament this weekend out of Port Dalhousie. It is open for everyone to fish. You have to register by 5pm Thursday. Click here for details for that event:
