Aug 22 - Weekend Recap!

Aug 22 - Weekend Recap!

Well this time lets begin with Lake Erie!

Safe to say now that the Walleye fishing is very good in most places now.

Port Burwell continues to produce fast limits of Walleye & some Rainbows. 55-65 FOW has been the productive range. Spoon in Reg or Super Slim sizes have been best. Hot colors are Mixed Veggies, Greasy Chicken, Pink Panties, Watermelon, Blueberry Muffin, Andy's Walleye Slapper & Orange Crush. Body baits also can work good, Yaleye Mooneyes & Hooligans & Ripplin Redfins Downriggers, Divers & Lead core all working well.

Moving east, Port Maitland - Port Colborne also doing very well. Lots of fish coming from 60-80 FOW. Worm harnesses are going good but a very good bait has been Worm Burners. These are a small WD spoon from Dreamweaver with a harness leader behind. It allows you to troll a little faster & the Walleye just love them!

Hopefully the good walleye action continues for another month or so!

Over on Lake Ontario, the fishing is excellent still too.

Its the last week of both the Great Ontario Salmon Derby & The Silver Salmon Challenge. Lots of big Salmon are staging all over the lake. Some are inshore close to the river mouths while many are hanging out anywhere from 60-100 out front, waiting for the water to cool a bit. Flasher/flies & meat rigs continue to be best. Below are a few colors that have been good lately.

Those looking for numbers & a mixed bag, can find excellent action in 250-300 FOW. A spread of spoons down 30-60 ft will work good. Some of the better colors are here:
