Aug 29 Weekend Recap!
Well happy Monday everyone, here is your Weekend Recap.
Last week of summer vacation for many now.. but the fishing everywhere has been great!
On Lake Ontario both the Silver Salmon Challenge & Great Ontario Salmon derbies concluded over the weekend & the both had their Fish Off’s.
Its been great seeing many of our friends/customers placing on the leaderboards. In the end it was Jaromir Masar winning the GOSD with 35.58 lbs & William Bissonette winning the SSC with 35.78lbs
Congratulations to all! Special thanks to the various organizers & sponsors that keep these events going.
Also the Port Credit Salmon & Trout Association had their Fall Pen Derby on Saturday. Congrats to team Kings & Fives on taking the win. These guys have been very successful the last few years. Well done gentlemen!
The Salmon fishing continues to be good for large mature Salmon all around the lake as they are moving in shallow to stage.
Looks like there is lots all around Port Credit, Bronte, & Dalhousie. 50-100 FOW is a good range to try for now. Herring Rigs & Flies continue to perform well. Plugs & mag spoons can have their days too. Remember, these salmon are moody, they can turn on & off instantly. Also “fresh” fish are constantly moving in too from the main lake.
We still have good stock of strips & Red Label Whole herring.
The Strait Line Anglers Club “CATCH THE FRY” SALMON TOURNAMENT is on Sat Sept 3 and all are welcome. We’ll post the details below.
On Lake Erie the hot action is still happening. Reports of fast limits happening in many spots. Port Colborne area is very good now, 60-80 with fish being caught 35-60 ft down. Riggers, divers & lead core (7-10 colors). Worms harnesses & stick baits (Mooneyes, Redfins, Bay Rats) We’re hoping the excellent fishing continues out there for a few more weeks.
LITTLE SHOUT OUT TO OUR LOCAL BUDDIES, TOM CHOPPIN & JOE RODRIGUES FOR TAKING 3RD PLACE AT THE QUINTE CUP ON THE WEEKEND.
