May 16 - Weekend Recap
How about that weather this weekend!?
Great fishing continues for many species, all over.
Over the last few days the Chinook Salmon fishing has gotten slower, still around but scattered. But thankfully the excellent Coho salmon fishing continues to be excellent.
Bright orange & chartreuse spoons & mini dodger /flasher fly combos producing very well for the Coho. Also some excellent Lake Trout action being had. Spoons working well for them, but cowbell/peanut fly combos are the ticket for consistent action.
This weekend is the St Catharines Game & Fish Association's 8th Annual Port Dalhousie 3x3 Salmon Classic. All the details for that can be found at :

Elsewhere, on Lake Erie the Perch fishing has been very good from Fort Erie to Port Colborne. 55-65 feet has been good, but as always you gotta be constantly moving to stay on them. Minnows on double hook rigs is a good set up to use.
Long Point Bay also has had good perch & Pike action too. Congrats to Perry Poirier Jr & Sr on winning the LPBAA Pike Tournament. casting jerk baits & Spinnerbaits will work well.
Walleye season is now open on the Grand River. Good numbers of them are being caught. As well, catfish continues to be good along with Sheephead, Bowfin, Pike & Carp. Trolling with Big O, Wally Diver, Flicker Shad cranks can be productive,
