May 30 - Weekend Recap!

Weekend Recap- May 30

Lake Ontario.

Well what can we say we are definitely in transition mode which is typical for late May / early June as the mass numbers of chinook Salmon that spend most of April-May along the South shore begin to disperse. Good consistent fishing should resume again soon in various ports as the thermocline sets up. Judging by reports over the last few days it was very hit & miss from Niagara all the way to Cobourg. A few very nice kings making appearances in different ports along with shakers, mid size kings, Coho, the odd rainbow & plenty of big Lake Trout. Spreads consisting of spoons & Flasher-flies allow you to cover water at a faster speed until you find what your looking for.

Final week of the St Catharines Game & Fish Assc. Spring Salmon Derby. Some big Lake trout entered this past weekend.

Over on Lake Erie Walleye fishing continues to be very good in the west end. Even seeing some fish caught around the NY waters. A few fish being caught around Maitland -Colborne. Wont be long till it gets good soon!

Final Week of the Catfish Capture contest as well.
